My experience as partner in dPi Consulting starts in 2003. There are five if us as partners. I know my partners since 2000, but frankly speaking we are not too close. For sure we have the integrity as our similar value. Although I did not them very well, I am quite sure that we can work together because our INTEGRITY value.
 
At that time, I value Pak Edi is a very formal person who is very serious, not easy to be approached. Lina is so quiet and has “poker face”. She does not want to be in a limelight and prefers to have one on one consultation. Having three kids, she is so “motherly” for me. Keny is very good in detail. Often she asks me many “bothering question”. Ita is a very calm and accommodating person. She helps me a lot. People must be very relax and comfortable dealing with her. She is a good listener and sometimes telling jokes. Myself, likes to chat and restless. I like to be recognized and like to have many activities.
 
These differences often make friction among us. For me, Pa Edi and Keny are too detail. Lina cannot help me doing the presentation or to go out of office. Ita is “too good” to people, sometimes make me “gemes”.
 
In early 2003, we met our “old friend” Mr. Khoo Oon Theam from OTI Consulting – Singapore, and he introduced DiSC to dPi. Personally, I learned DiSC from Pa Edi, Keny and Ita who are already very familiar with DiSC. Me and Lina, have a “superficial” knowledge about it. As a part of our dealership, OTi consulting certified us through “DiSC Certidification Training” in September 2003.
 
After having deep understanding about DiSC, our dPi team becomes more solid. Not only based on the integrity value, but also because we value each other. We aware and accept our differences and modify our behavior to the need of others.
 
DiSC is NOT just a theory. It can be APPLIED in our social and work life. For example, dPi has training program as one of our services. With my profile “Di – inspirational profile” I prefer to be given opportunity to create module and conduct the training. Ita with …. Profile will help me in creating module and games. In conducting training, Pa Edi with his “DC – creative profile” will back me up in the theory. Usually, I take role in games, role play, and giving de brief, Ita help me in adding detail of the brefing, and Pa Edi will complete it with the theory.
 
How about Keny and Lina?? With her “IC – Appraisar Profile”, Keny is good in consultancy project. Meanwhile Lina with her CS profile prefer to be given one on one consultation rather than giving training or presentation. Usually, if Lina and I have to present something, I did the presentation, and Lina help me with Question and Answer. Instead of focus on the limitation, we utilize our strengths and fill in the gap.
 
So, how about make your teamwork as solid as our team? Know your DiSC style, Know others’ DiSC Style : Accept, Aware and Adapt!!
